Tamara + Braden | Engagements

This engagement session was a miracle of the heavens!! Tamara and Braden live in Tulsa and were planning to make the hour and half drive to see me in OKC for photos. The Friday before their session, the news was forecasting not just a rainy day, not just thunderstorms, not just lightning, but tornados! Ugh. As if the humidity and rain aren’t enough to work around, but tornados…not cool. Betcha didn’t know that tornados are afraid of Brides with an agenda to stay on top of. Yep, they are. I asked Tamara if she wanted to reschedule, but between Braden’s work schedule and getting the Save the Dates out in time, there was no other option. So Tamara looked up at the rain clouds and told them she was coming and they better stay away. And they did.
Tamara showed up at my house in the pouring rain and the cloudy grey skies. By the time we walked out to head off to our first location with fingers crossed that it would let up just a little bit by the time we get there, the sun was out and the rain had stopped. It stayed that way for the entire shoot! Two and half hours of location hopping and shooting and not a sprinkle. And forget tornados. Those guys were too afraid to show their face.
We ended our shoot in a cluster of trees burnt from a recent wildfire. The last stop of the day. I was literally telling them, “Last one, just hold that, perfect” when we felt a couple of drops and saw the lightening that told us it was time to get out of the group of really tall trees that have already caught fire once. I think the greatest lesson learned though, is to never mess with a bride. Not even if your a tornado.
